Setting Family Budget Goal
October 4th, 2008 | by familyadmin |I came across an article in iVillage by Jill Gianola, where the title is Goal Setting — Family Style , well the steps in the article are just applicable to setting budget goals for the family budgets.
The steps are clear and easy doable, they talk about setting the time and place and even listing items to be readied for the goal meeting. I like the part about the visualization and the buying of the gifts for each member of the family to remind them of the common goal to be reached in the future.
Here is an extract from the article
Making the Plan
First decide who should be included. Besides you and your spouse or companion, I suggest you include your children in family goal setting if they are teenagers or older. Younger children probably benefit more from focused sessions like planning a vacation.Next, designate a time and space. Sunday afternoon or a weeknight around the dining room table may work for you. Serve refreshments — cider and homemade cookies encourage participation at our house.
This is the part where I like the idea about a gift for each member.
The final step in the visualization exercise is to purchase an inexpensive gift for another family member that symbolizes his or her perfect moment. As the days and years pass, you can look at your gift to remind you of your goal. And, when your moment happens, you will recognize it instantly.
